Super Eagles shot down, France goes through
France beat Nigeria 2:0 in the first Monday game of last 16 round of the World Cup. Didier Deschamp's team couldn't manage to score thanks to the amazing Vincent Enyama. However, Paul Pogba's strike from the 79th minute and Yosef Yobo's own goal gave "Les Bleus" the win. France will face Germany in the quarter-final that will take place on the 4th of July in Rio de Janeiro.

Europe better this time, France and Switzerland move up
France and Switzerland made it through the group phase of the 2014 World Cup. Les Bleus drew with Ecuador 0:0 and Ottmar Hitzfeld's team easily beat Honduras 3:0. The second game was a one-man show as Xherdan Shaqiri scored a fantastic hat-trick. In the last 16 France will face Nigeria and Switzerland will play against Argentina.

Group F table without changes, Messi caught up with Neymar
Argentina beat Nigeria 3:2 and secured the first seed in group F before the playoff stage of the 2014 World Cup. Leo Messi scored twice and caught up with Neymar at the top of the scorer's table. Another group F game between Bosnia and Hercegovina and Iran ended in a 3:1 win by the former.

David Taylor passed away
We are shocked to hear that Mr. David Taylor, Chief Executive of the UEFA Events, passed away yesterday. Mr. Taylor had been known for his devotion to his work in UEFA and will remain in our memories as a person who truly loved football.
