Czesław Michniewicz: You could feel the power in this team
The Polish national team defeated Saudi Arabia 2:0 in the second match of the World Cup in Qatar. The White-and-Reds took the lead in Group C. "We are very happy that we brought so much joy to the fans. The first goal and the defended penalty kick were the turning points of the match," admitted Czesław Michniewicz, the Polish national team head coach.
"We are overjoyed, although I realise that the four points we have do not yet settle anything. Our rivals also had their chances, but that's the way it is here in every match. There were a lot of attacks where we wanted to play and use the space. Especially after Kuba Kamiński entered, Grzesiek Krychowiak tried to pass behind the backs of the rivals. This is what we practiced in training," Michniewicz said.
"A word of appreciation to Wojtek Szczęsny, who did a great job. I saw the penalty kick from a distance and I think it seemed sort of "soft". The first goal for us and the just-defended penalty kick were the turning points of the match. You could feel the power in this team, and the win is fully deserved," the Polish national team coach stressed.
