Lewandowski, Glik and Krychowiak will not play against Hungary

Robert Lewandowski, Kamil Glik and Grzegorz Krychowiak will not play in the 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Hungary at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw on Monday. Krychowiak will miss the match due to an excess of yellow cards. The decision relating to the absence of Lewandowski and Glik was made jointly by the head coach Paulo Sousa and the players themselves.

'Robert has played as many as 849 minutes since 9 October, and 1,438 minutes since the beginning of the season. The intensity is very high. The head coach, together with the player, decided that it is a good time for Lewandowski to rest. The goal has been achieved, the Polish national team will play in the 2022 World Cup playoffs,' explained Jakub Kwiatkowski, team manager of the Polish national team and spokesman for the Polish Football Association.

'Kamil Glik, on the other hand, has picked enough yellow cards to be in danger of missing the next match. If he gets a yellow card in the match against Hungary, he won't be able to play in the first playoff game. We want to avoid that. The playoffs and the promotion to the World Cup final tournament are what matter to us most,' added Jakub Kwiatkowski.
