Michał Żewłakow as ambassador of the 2024/2025 Conference League final!
Michal Żewłakow has been appointed ambassador of the 2024/2025 Conference League final. On Friday, the 102-times Polish representative attended the draw for the league phase of the competition, whose decisive match will take place on 28 May 2025 in Wrocław, Poland.
Michał Żewłakow was born on 22 April 1976 in Warsaw. His first club was Drukarz Warszawa and he is the only footballer to have played for five clubs from the Polish capital – in addition to Drukarz, he also donned the jerseys of Marymont, Polonia, Hutnik and Legia. During his extensive career, he also played for KSK Beveren, Royal Excelsior Mouscron, RSC Anderlecht, Olympiakos SFP and MKE Ankaragücü. His achievements include two Belgian championships (2004, 2006), three Greek championships (2007, 2008, 2009), two Greek Cups (2008, 2009), one Greek Super Cup (2007), as well as a Polish championship (2013) and two Polish Cups (2012, 2013).
He made his debut for the Polish national team on 19 June 1999 in a friendly match against New Zealand. He played there for over eleven years, repeatedly captaining the national team. He played in two World Cup final tournaments (Korea and Japan 2002, Germany 2006) and one European Championship (Austria/Switzerland 2008). In total, he played 102 matches for the Polish national team, in which he scored three goals. He is a member of the Outstanding National Team Players Member Club.
Michal Żewłakow also has a considerable record of playing in European cups. He has played 48 games in them, including 31 in the Champions League, 10 in the UEFA Cup and 7 in the Europa League.
The league phase of the 2024/2025 Conference League, which was drawn on Friday, will kick off on 3 October. The final, for which Żewłakow has been appointed ambassador, is scheduled for 28 May 2025 and will be played at the Tarczyński Arena in Wrocław. Two Polish teams will take part in the competition: Jagiellonia Białystok and Legia Warsaw.
